                          Chicopee Comp

                          Overall Record:  1-16-3

                          Division Record:  1-8-1

                          Eliminated January 19th

 

 

Next Year

Head Coach Roger Bowden is retiring at the end of this season after 35 years behind the Comp bench.  Bowden has committed to getting the younger players a lot of playing time to be stronger next year.

This Year

Chicopee Comp scored 6 unanswered goals in the 3rd period against Turners Falls to erase a 4 goal deficit and win the game 9-7.  They also battled back from a 4-1 deficit to tie Belchertown, 5-5.

                          St Joseph’s

                          Overall Record:  1-13-5

                          Division Record:  1-10-4

                          Eliminated January 23rd

 

 

This Year

St Joseph’s showed they are not that far away from competing in the Hennessey Division again as they tied 2nd place Taconic, 1-1, and Western Mass playoff team hopeful Easthampton, 1-1.

Next Year

St Joseph’s ended their 37-game winless streak with a 4-1 win over Mt Everett on February 9th.  St Joseph’s merged with Mt Greylock as Mt Greylock had less than 10 players eligible to play this year.

                          Mt Everett

                          Overall Record:  5-12-2

                          Division Record:  4-10-2

                          Eliminated January 30th

 

 

This Year

Mt Everett won two games against  Drury this year, 5-0 on January 14th and 3-1 on January 27th.  They are also 1-1-2 against St Joseph’s.  They beat St Joseph’s 2-0 on December 22nd.

Next Year

Mt Everett has its eyes on 3rd place in the Hennessey Division this year, an improvement over last year’s 4th place finish.  They look to continue the climb up the Hennessey Division ladder next year.

                          St. Mary’s

                          Overall Record:  3-16-1

                          Division Record:  2-8-0

                          Eliminated January 31st

 

 

This Year

St Mary’s had a year of firsts:  First Division win over Comp, 7-3; First season sweep over Comp after a 3-2 win on January 24th; & First winning streak as they beat Mt Everett, 4-1, before their 2nd win over Comp.

Next Year

St Mary’s is a very young team with nothing but high hopes for the near future.  They have created a buzz within hockey circles.  They will look to improve their standing in the Wright Division next year.

                          Ludlow

                          Overall Record:  7-9-3

                          Division Record:  4-9-2

                          Eliminated February 14th

 

 

                          West Side

                          Overall Record:  6-13-1

                          Division Record:  2-12-1

                          Eliminated February 9th

 

 

This Year

Ludlow beat Berry Division leading Westfield, 1-0, on January 19th, beat 2nd place East Longmeadow, 3-1 on December 20th, and beat last place West Side, 2-1, on February 12th.  Ludlow also tied Greenfield, 3-3.

This Year

West Side beat Ludlow, 4-2, on January 3rd, beat Minnechaug, 2-1, on February 7th,  and tied 2nd place East Longmeadow, 3-3, on January 12th.  They are perfect in Independent play.

Next Year

Ludlow has proven they can play with the best teams in the Berry Division.  They will work toward consistent play against all of the teams in the Berry, a key to the new tournament format and a top 4 slot.

Next Year

West Side has missed the playoffs the last three seasons, but have a group of young talent playing now that may change that trend next year.  The key is no longer striving for a .500 record, but finishing in the top of the Berry.

                          Amherst

                          Overall Record:  8-10-2

                          Division Record:  1-7-0

                          Eliminated February 9th

 

 

This Year

Amherst beat Easthampton, 3-0, on January 19th for their sole Fay Division win.  They recorded a solid record of 6-3-2 in Independent play with big wins over Taconic, 5-3, Central, 2-1, and Chicopee, 5-1.

Next Year

Amherst moved down from the Berry Division and played their best games in Independent play.  They are a young team with solid players.  They look to compete next year with key roles filled by their young players.

                          Drury

                          Overall Record:  4-13-2

                          Division Record:  3-11-1

                          Eliminated February 9th

 

 

This Year

Drury went 2-0-1 versus St Joseph’s this year with a 4-2 win, a 3-0 win, and a 3-3 tie.  They also beat Mt Everett, 5-2, and St Mary’s, 5-4.  Their best game may have been a tie with Easthampton, 2-2, in December.

Next Year

Drury had high hopes this year, but suffered through two separate 4-game losing streaks.  As the team matures and learns to stay out of the penalty box, they could reach their goal and play in the playoffs.

                          Belchertown

                          Overall Record:  6-9-5

                          Division Record:  2-5-1

                          Eliminated February 19th

 

 

This Year

Belchertown swept the season series with Amherst for their two division wins.  They also beat the top three teams in the Wright Division:  Holyoke, 7-6, Central, 3-2, and Chicopee, 7-0.

Next Year

Belchertown is a young team with a lot of talent.  They were expected to compete for the Fay Division title, but had a winless streak of 8 games this year.  Fans should pencil them in as the team to beat next year.
