MIAA WALKER RANKINGS

Here are the three calculations used to rank the teams that qualify for the Division 3A Western Mass Playoffs.

 

The calculation will not match the final rankings by the MIAA Committee because they will manually rank the top five teams, as noted on the right below the picture.

MIAA RANKINGS
Text Box: The seeding committee utilizes the Walker Power Ranking system as its first step in the seeding process. This calculation is identical to the formula used last year. They then discuss the teams and re-rank them. They do try to make all of the preliminary round games feature teams that have not played against each other during the year. Teams are ranked in 3 categories and the rankings are totaled to calculate an overall ranking. The rankings are: Overall winning percentage Winning percentage versus playoff teams Strength of schedule based on wins & ties Strength of schedule uses a weighted average system utilizing the following point system: Division I: Win=12 points, Tie=6 points Division II: Win=10 points, Tie=5 points Upper Div III/Berry: Win=8 points, Tie=4 points Lower Division III/ Fay/Wright/Hennessey: Win=4 points, Tie=2 point Falcons Must Sell 500 Season Tickets This Year
